On November 1st, M.A. Stojan Nikolić took over the reins of the company RUNE Enia d.o.o., which is leading a project to build a broadband optical network in rural areas of Slovenia, also known as the RUNE project. The former director of the company, Goran Živec, took the position of operational director.
The company of RUNE Enia d.o.o. has a new management. At the beginning of November, M.A. Stojan Nikolić became the company’s director (CEO), having previously worked as the general manager of the Slovenian Power Plant Holding (HSE) for several years. He joined the company at the invitation of the owner of the private equity fund CEBF from Luxemburg, which owns RUNE Group S.A.* Upon taking up his new job, he stated:
“I am very much looking forward to the new work challenges that are ahead of me. The field of work is new to me, but I believe that with the experience and knowledge that I have in running companies of different sizes, and the knowledge I have in the field of financing and operation of private equity funds, I can contribute to the success of the RUNE project and to the successful long term functioning of the RUNE Enia d.o.o.” emphasizes Nikolić.
Mr. Nikolić is as also the director of RUNE Crow, which manages the RUNE project for Croatia. His first task will be establishing the functioning of the RUNE group of companies (RUNE Enia d.o.o. and RUNE Crow d.o.o.) as an independent organization. This will help both project teams and establish the activities that are essential for the long-term functioning of RUNE after the construction of the set optical network in the rural areas of Slovenia and also in Istria and in Kvarner in Croatia.
The former director, Goran Živec, is now the operational director of RUNE Enia d.o.o. and will focus on the implementation of the investments itself.
“We look forward to working with Mr. Nikolić. We are confident that with his knowledge and experience he will contribute to the development of RUNE Enia d.o.o. and to the success of the RUNE project. As the operations director I will be able to dedicate myself more intensively to the RUNE project and its implementation.“
Broadband optical network construction in the rural areas of Slovenia is in full swing. In the following weeks and months the extent of it will be significantly bigger. In accordance with the network construction, the construction of user connectors and connections of users to the network is already underway. Completion of the RUNE project is scheduled for the end of 2023.
|About the RUNE project and the company RUNE Group S.A. RUNE project was planned with a goal to ensure ultrafast broadband optical infrastructure to all users in the rural areas in Slovenia and in parts of Croatia. In Slovenia, it is led by the company RUNE Enia d.o.o., and by RUNE Crow d.o.o. in Croatia. It is the first, and at the moment also the only cross border project at the EU level, with which several member states are connected with the ultrafast broadband optical infrastructure, that was financed by the Connecting Europe Broadband Fund (CEBF). The latter is the majority owner of the RUNE Group S.A., which owns RUNE Enia and RUNE Crow. In early December 2019, the RUNE project received the EU Broadband Awards from the European Commission as the best project in the category.|
